AMA Members Step Up to Support Residents, Communities

Arizona’s apartment property owners and managers are proving that their commitment to residents extends far beyond providing housing—they are dedicated to strengthening communities, fighting food insecurity, and supporting individuals in need. Through acts of generosity and service, these organizations are making a meaningful impact across the state.

HSL Properties Fights Food Insecurity with Annual Stuff the Bus Food Drive

On January 19, 2025, HSL Properties hosted its 9th annual Stuff the Bus Food Drive in partnership with the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona and KVOA 4. This inspiring initiative united all 37 of HSL’s communities in a friendly competition to collect food donations, culminating in an incredible 62,468 pounds of food collected.

Local residents and AMA Industry Partners joined the cause, contributing food and monetary donations throughout the day. The event also welcomed University of Arizona basketball and football players, who chatted with donors and signed autographs.

Held strategically after the holiday season, this food drive helps replenish essential food bank supplies across five southern Arizona counties. The impact of this effort was clear, as Norma Cable, Public Relations Manager at the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, shared:

“The competition between properties to bring in the most food raises the bar in encouraging donations and bringing awareness to the huge challenge of food insecurity in Southern Arizona.”

P.B. Bell’s ‘Bellapalooza’ Rocks for a Cause, Raises $12,000 for Entryway

P.B. Bell took its annual year-end celebration to the next level with a rock-n-roll-themed ‘Bellapalooza’ held in early December. More than just a fun event, the celebration was an opportunity to give back—P.B. Bell selected Entryway as its charity partner, donating 100% of raffle proceeds to support individuals transitioning from homelessness to stable employment and housing.

With an impressive $12,000 raised, P.B. Bell is helping Entryway provide training, mentorship, and job opportunities in multifamily housing communities. This includes support for participants in Entryway’s Maintenance Training Program at St. Vincent de Paul’s workforce shelter, empowering them with essential skills for long-term stability.

“P.B. Bell’s donation is a transformative gift for Entryway and the communities we serve,” said Mandy Porter-Griffith, Executive Director of Entryway Arizona. “Together, we’re fostering stronger, more inclusive communities and working to end homelessness.”

Community members can further support Entryway by volunteering as mentors, conducting mock interviews, or offering hands-on training. Those interested in making a difference can sign up to volunteer here.

IDM Companies Embarks on a Season of Giving to Serve Arizona Communities

IDM Companies embraced the spirit of the season with their second annual ‘Season of Giving’ initiative, bringing together 59 volunteers from their residential and corporate teams to contribute 107 hours of service across Arizona.

Their efforts supported organizations such as St. Mary’s Food Bank, Feed My Starving Children, United Food Bank, and the Arizona Humane Society. IDM also hosted a toy drive benefiting the Phoenix Rescue Mission and a blood drive, further extending their reach to those in need.

Through hands-on service, IDM exemplified the apartment industry’s dedication to giving back and ensuring every resident—both human and furry—feels cared for during the holiday season.

From fighting food insecurity to helping individuals secure stable housing and engaging in direct volunteer efforts, Arizona’s apartment property owners and managers continue to prove that their work is about more than just providing a place to live. Their ongoing commitment to creating a true sense of home makes a lasting difference in the lives of residents and the broader community.
