AI didn’t cause Arizona’s housing inflation

A lawsuit by the Arizona Attorney General seeks to blame AI-based software for rising housing costs instead of the real problem — overspending by the federal government, which caused rapid inflation.
The software helps rental property owners set rent prices based on real-time market data, the same way you use Kelley Blue Book to evaluate the value of your car. At times, the software recommends raising rent; other times, to lower it.
This isn’t why rents have spiked in Arizona. The real reasons are bloated government spending and a shortage of housing construction due to challenging zoning laws, construction costs and environmental regulations.
Reducing spending and eliminating waste, fraud and abuse are the true paths out of this affordability crisis.
