Affordable apartments going up on former school land in west Phoenix

Arizona school districts can sell their surplus land, which would be ideal for developing more sorely needed housing. The first such project has been underway for three years and is set to open in early 2025 at McDowell Road and 31st Avenue in west Phoenix. Brett Tarver Terrace, named after a fallen firefighter, will provide 96 apartments affordable for people making 60% of the area’s median income or less.
