Rivulon apartment plan gets pushback
Gilbert NIMBYs are resisting a 352-unit apartment building in a mixed-use area close to
a business corridor. At a recent Planning Commission meeting, one resident claimed he
is simply “done with the multifamily.” He whines that he likes to walk and bike through
the area (we certainly wouldn’t want to inconvenience him by asking him to use, say, a
public park or mountain preserve) and apparently doesn’t think apartment residents
should be allowed to look into the backyards of $800,000 homes (the horror!). Yet
another resident rolled out unfounded complaints about overburdening local schools,
with a dystopian tale of lower test scores and less-educated workers in the future.
